Tolak Gula Campaign

+ 2,500 points

A proactive campaign to reduce sugar consumption in the workplace. Companies commit to serving sugar-free beverages and healthier food options at all official events and meetings, helping combat the rise of non-communicable diseases (NCDs) such as diabetes and heart disease.

Tolak Gula Criteria

Meetings, programs, or events are only allowed to serve sugar-free beverages such as tea, coffee, and fruit juices. Sugary drinks such as carbonated beverages and cordials are not permitted. The use of separate sugar is also discouraged. High-sugar desserts such as cakes, sweets, and traditional sugary pastries are not encouraged; instead, it is recommended to provide healthier options such as fruits, nuts, and low-calorie traditional snacks.

Cafés and canteens at the employer's premises must provide sugar-free beverage options as a standard choice for staff purchases.

Prepare food hampers/goodie bags events or programs with healthy food options such as Dried fruits and nuts like raisins.

How To Join?

Step 1

Contact the PERKESO Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) Unit via email at whp@perkeso.gov.my.

Step 2

The WHP Unit will arrange a meeting with the employer to discuss the campaign's objectives, health risks of excessive sugar intake, required commitments, and the Tolak Gula criteria.

Step 3

Employers must submit a letter or email confirming the implementation of the Tolak Gula criteria at the workplace.

Step 4

The WHP Unit will conduct a site visit and coordinate the implementation of the Tolak Gula campaign at the workplace.

Workplace Wellbeing Program

Workplace Wellbeing refers to the holistic approach of ensuring employees' physical, mental, and emotional health within the work environment. It encompasses efforts to promote a healthy lifestyle, reduce stress, encourage work-life balance, and create a positive, supportive workplace culture. A strong focus on wellbeing leads to higher employee satisfaction, improved productivity, and a more resilient workforce.

How To Join?

Step 1

Contact the PERKESO Workplace Health Promotion (WHP) Unit via email at whp@perkeso.gov.my.

Step 2

The WHP Unit will arrange a meeting with the employer to discuss programme objectives, expected commitments, and the overall workplace wellbeing approach.

Step 3

Employers must submit a letter or email indicating their intention to implement workplace wellbeing initiatives, such as health campaigns, seminars, or related programmes.

Step 4

The WHP team will participate in the programs organized by the employer.

No, companies can still participate in campaign Tolak Gula even after the active@work challenge program has ended.

  • Implement TOLAK GULA advocacy initiative program (2500 points) and Workplace Wellbeing Program (2500 points)
  • If 2 of the program were implemented, 5000 points will be awarded.
